| How can the US compete with India when it comes to laborious tasks like transcriptions? The average cost i found for a US company was about $2.50 per audio minute. Then i found an Indian company that does it for $1 per audio minute, but if it was a one-on-one interview instead of a focus group, it would have only been 75 cents per audio minute. Though i hate to outsource work to India and contribute to the decline of the American economy, but i'm a poor graduate student and have no money.
Here's where i outsourced my work to: http://www.inteleants.com
They do all types of laborious tasks that typically you would have undergrads do, but i am not so lucky to have undergrad slave labor.

| There's just something about cleaning out one's ear canal that is just so.....fun. Not only does it feel good, but it's also a bit dangerous and bad. You're not supposed to stick q-tips into your ear canal because it might just push the earwax further in. Nevertheless, you still do it because it just feels good. But those crazy awesome Japanese have somewhat solved this problem. In Tokyo, i went to Muji and found these great individually wrapped q-tips with an ear canal scrapper on one end. The scrapper is slightly hooked at the end so you can scoop out the goods, solving the problem of potentially pushing the wax in further. Then after a nice healthy scrapping and scooping, you can clean up with the swab side. It's a wonderful thing. It feels so good, there is reduced risk of impacting earwax, yet there is still excitement because the danger of puncturing your ear drum if you stick the thing too far in is quite real.
What a post after such a long hiatus. Hahah!

| Leaving for Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo tomorrow. Won't be back for a month. The funny thing is that i'm going to be experiencing all types of weather on this trip. I just looked up the 5 day forecast for first stop, Singapore, and it's going to be 80 degrees and raining. Hong Kong is a bit nicer, 70's and no rain, but Tokyo is like high 40's-low 50's. So it's difficult to pack for all that weather, so basically i'm just going to buy new clothes for the cold weather. Haha, so it should be fun. If people have any recommendations for things i should do or see, please tell me. It's my first time in Singapore and Tokyo.
